
Salt and Sacrifice even takes a page from Sekiro with a new grappling hook designed for traversing the game’s open world. The player character can customize their skills and equipment to fit their own personal play style. Players must heal between encounters just like in the original Dark Souls series. The game puts an emphasis on gigantic boss battles and crushing difficulty with its slow and methodical combat. Players control a single character who wields medieval weapons in a quest to defeat bosses and hordes of enemies. Sony’s segment of the show offered only a brief look at the game, but several trailers and key art pieces have been released since the initial. The sequel to Salt and Sanctuary was first announced in June 2021 at the Summer Game Fest Kickoff. Salt and Sacrifice continues the spirit of its predecessor as a two-dimensional soulslike game that sticks close to estbalished genre conventions. After months of anticipation, Salt and Sacrifice finally has an official release date of May 10, 2022. Salt and Sacrifice could see further console releases after its initial release date, but for now, players will need a computer or PlayStation console to enjoy Salt and Sacrifice at launch. The game will be released for PC on the Epic Games Store as well.

The original game was released on several platforms including Xbox and Switch, but new funding from Sony has limited the game to just PlayStation consoles.
